HowToEditRegistryPage
This is an introduction to editing Wikis, motivated by the specific example of editing our registry. In order to make things concrete, let's suppose that you visited our registry, and it looked like this:
(All of the images on this page are links to full sized versions of themselves.)
From this list, you saw that we could use sixteen widgets. However, widgets are costly buggers, so you went out and bought just seven of them -- a generous gift indeed. Now you need to edit the page, so that we don't get too many widgets.
The first thing to do is to find the "edit" button, which is at the bottom of your browser window. It looks like this:
After you press the "edit" button, you'll be taken to the "Edit: Registry" page, which looks something like this:
You should find that you can edit the text in the "Page Content" box. If you make a mistake, your best bet is to use the "back" button on your browser, which will take you to the Registry page, and then hit the "edit" button again and start over. If you (for whatever reason) make a big mistake, and also hit the "Save" button before you realize it, don't sweat it. Just shoot me an email and I'll revert to the version before you changed it.
Anyway, right now you want to scroll down until you find the line about widgets:
Now just make your change, as such:
And press the "Save" button below:
That's all there is to it! Now everyone knows that we only need nine more widgets. If you want to leave a note saying it was you who bought the widgets, or whatever, that's fine. We love to hear from people. In fact, maybe we should set up a couple of Wiki pages for people just to leave comments on.
Also, if you got something we only needed one of, so there's no number to change, just put "(reserved)" next to the thing you got.
Finally, if you can't get this to work, feel free to email me (johnson.todd@gmail.com) or (if you'd rather I not know just yet who got what) the best man (anthony.mohen@gmail.com) with what needs to be changed, and we'll take care of it for you.
